What OS are you running?  Both XP and Vista immediately found my phone.  You might try downloading PC Studio and the drivers found here, if you haven't already.  http://www.samsung.com/us/support/download/supportDown.do?group=&type=mobilephones&subtype=t_mobilephones&model_nm=SGH-T919&language=&cate_type=all&dType=D&mType=SW&vType=&prd_ia_cd=01010300&disp_nm=Behold%20(SGH-t919)&model_cd=&menu=download

When you plug it in, it doesn't register at all?  No Unknown Hardware message or anything?
You don't have your screen locked do you?  Because if so, it will only charge.  When it's unlocked a box should pop up on your phone that says Select USB Mode and gives you the PC Studios option or USB option.

Maybe my stepdad ..he just got the memoir so i dont know if he has tried to hook it up to his computer yet.it has the unknown hardware message..it says u need a disc and windows will try to see a fix for it..but nothing.

If you want your PC to read the SD Card, then, like Rohan said, make sure to change your USB settings to Mass Storage. And if you plan to use TKExplorer, make sure your USB settings are set to Samsung PC Studio. If it still doesn't recognize it, try to unplug the USB cord and then re-connect it.
