wat do u people want? its jus a phone not a pc

« Reply #31 on: February 18, 2010, 07:28:21 PM »

dont mean to complain but wats up with the res and quality?

Absolutely nothing. If you want a higher res, you want a slower phone. Trust me, after doing several research methods, I've concluded that any file over 330MB will cause a super slow responce when you scroll. This will easily annoy you. 330MB per film is more than enough to play a great picture proportionally without the sacrifice of running out of drive space or slow feedback speed. Plus with no studdering at full screen and the ability to add 4 or 5 full length films with room to spare for pics and video recording on a 2GB SD card... what more could you possibly want?  A higher res can easily be accomplished (don't get me wrong). My PSP movies are 5 to 600MB but that's cause I've got a 16GB memory stick and I plug it up to my TV so you need that extra quality for that larger screen. On a phone, it's really not all that important.

i think id rather have a good quality version tho.  who cares if it take alot of space. is there a reason why the res is 300x144?

In order to appreciate what I've done, first you must know something about formatting, screen sizes, scales and ratios. Here's a crash course: The Behold accepts 2 resolutions... 176X144 (normal size) & 320X240 (full screen) res only. This means the phone is only meant to play video clips at a ratio of 4:3 like standard TVs not 16:9 like wide screen TVs. Anything higher, you'll get a message that says something like, "invalid resolution" and the file (even though it's a fully compatible MP4 or 3GP) won't play. Even the Behold’s video camera only records in those same 2 screen sizes.

Unlike the PSP, you can set your screen size higher and it doesn't care, it simply plays the file. Why? Because the PSP has a 4:3 and a 16:9 screen ratio for playing square movie clips and full length wide screen movies. Keep in mind, this is the Behold... a cell phone, not an HDTV or PSP. It has strict screen limitations that accepts 4:3 ratio ONLY!!! How I make the files play perfectly at full screen is simply by ripping the files from the DVD with its 16:9 ratio still in tact. I put the ripped .avi file in HandBrake and proportionally re-rip that file to fit a 4:3 ratio. This makes it tons of black space on the top and bottom and shrinks it to a 176X84 or 72. When played on the Behold, somehow, the HandBrake program tricks the Behold to believe the newly ripped file is a high res 176X144 with a 4:3 ratio that can stretch to a proportioned 16:9 if you zoom to the 320X240 (the Behold's full screen mode). Anything higher will cause the file to stutter due to the unchanged 29.97fps framerate... the Behold kinda starts to pick up on what you're doing. Slow the framerate, you chop up the images. Speed it up and, you get the idea.

One more thing! Trust me on this... if I created a higher quality than 330MB, I can bet beyond the shadow of a doubt, you'd wanna kick my @$$ cause your phone will perform super slow. I'm not talking disc space, I'm talking, anything you press on the phone will be a super long delay. If you delete that 5 or 600MB movie file, the phone's processor performs as normal.

Here's the catch with the Behold that you should understand by now: These are full length wide screen movies with a consistent 29.97fps frame rate that are not meant to play on the Behold in the first place... not 30 second square shaped movie clips that are. You really have the BEST heavily researched job and the best part is, you didn’t have to do all the work. If that isn’t good enough, how’s this?: IT’S FREE!!!... lol.

thanks for ur efforts but i am not a noob.  i have movies ive converted to fit my 320x240 with clear res and does not slow anything down.  im not sure of the program u use but i use virtual dub.  u should try it. its excellent.  it allows u to crop the vid to wat ever size u want without distorting anything.  this means if u rip a dvd and u got the letter box. u can use vdub to crop the vid without the letter crop.  then from there u can resize it to watever res u want i prefer 320x240.  so there is no need to be at 176x144.  and vids at 300-600 is no problem.  no one should blame u for a file being big.  if there stuff fills up they need to get a bigger memory card.

Never heard of it. Who stars in it so I'll know exactly what version to ask for? One thing about making requests for uncommon movie titles is (for example) I could work my @$$ off researching till I find the title starring Bruce Willis but you meant the one starring Jamie Foxx... feel me? My movies are common blockbuster titles like Yes Man, Twilight, and Hancock... so if 10 people don't know what you're talking about, chances are, I won't have it. In this case you've godda help me help you.

@ Azns13: You may not be a noob but the point of offering the movies this manner is cause most people downloading them are. They wouldn't know what to do when their phone freezes up like we would. This would cause them to post even more issues which I'm trying to end. I mentioned I use the HandBrake program. It allows me to do everything your program does, maybe better. Once again, the files can be higher but at the cost of a slower functioning phone for most people. Not everyone has 8GB cards like us, it's just 2GB. Smaller files offer them a little variety, not just one large file and a slow phone. Can't please everyone all the time but the majority is enough for me. I fully understand your point; however, not to be a d!ck about it but if more people like you want more, I'll have no choice but to compromise.

Thanks a lot for these!  I tried one last night and it was amazing!  Keep up the great work.  Oh and the small size is perfect.  Rather have more movies at good quality than fewer when at the moment I don't even know what I'm missing (quality-wise).

No prob! ...& for the record, you're right! There's really nothing wrong with the quality at all. It's a phone not a HDTV. You still get great quality, great sound, full screen, no studdering, small file sizes... what more can you want? If I offer higher quality, someone would ask for 5.1 surround sound. If I offer better sound, someone would want me to break the film into chapters. You just can't win so enjoy what you have which is a great enjoyable film for your phone.

New film list for this Saturday (02/27/20... & I will be on time... lol):

1. Get Rich or Die Trying
2. 17 Again
3. Cloudy with a Chance of MeatBalls
4. The Forbidden Kingdom
5. Land of the Lost
6. Dance Flick
7. Wanted
8. Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li
9. The Day the Earth Stood Still
10. Max Payne

*Keep in mind these are the REAL DEAL!!!... No crappy Cams.

Yeah, I got it! Hell, I think I got the whole d@mn franchise (even the 2009 3D version). I know for a fact I have the first one cause I saw the cover when I put Troy back on the shelf yesterday. It's ironic you requested it... lol. I'll add em' to this Saturday's update just like I did all the Fast & Furious ones. I usually get sequals to horror films like The Grudge & Hostel... the only thing I never buy is Saw movies. The ones I've seen were too lame for my money.

Hey Tanner! I know I told you I didn't know what you were talking about (& at the time, I really didn't) but when I looked through my titles to start ripping this Saturday's rip list, I saw that I already had it. Why didn't you make it easy on me by saying it's the Lebron James movie?... You should know I got that! If you respond, I've also got Michael Jordan: To the MAX as well... I'll only add it to Saturday's list if you respond to say you're interested. Other than that, I'll chill till next week. This week's list have grown to nearly 20 already & I only wanna offer 10 per week... lol. Yall really makin' a brotha' work.

Mysteryko, you got any old kung-fu movies, like Bruce Lee's Enter the Dragon, Game of Death, etc.
And I second the request for the LBJ movie, More than A Game.

I've got The Forbidden Kingdom on Saturday's list already (The action is HOT in that film)... & Yeah, I've got Enter The Dragon and the Rush Hour trilogy if that's enough to satisfy you. I also got Jet Li's Hero with and without subtitles & Kiss of the Dragon. I'll try to add Enter the Dragon to this Saturday's list (which is already stressing it), all other requests will be added to next week's list. I'll turn next week's list to a Kung Fu week or somethin... lol. I will be adding Lebron's movie to this Saturday's list for sure! I check this thread EVERYDAY so keep those requests coming. I'd rather display what you guys want rather than a list of whatever cause no one said anything.

Thanks for turning next week into Kung Fu week. Do you perhaps have Jet Li and Andy Lau's Warlords? Its a chinese film, so I'm not sure if you were by any chance able to swipe a copy. And thanks for uploading the LBJ movie, I've been trying to find it for a couple weeks.

Don't have it but if I find it by next week, I'll add it. Keep in mind, I only have common blockbuster titles. If it's burried waaaaaay in the back of the video store, well... let's just say there's a slight chance I can get it but only if several people want it. There must be an audience of more than one for me to go the extra mile. Not to say one person isn't as special but I'd rather take the time to satisfy a crowd with the bulk of what I already have and get all that custom stuff after the "in demand" quota has been met. Hope you still enjoy what I currently have to offer. *I update @ noon (central) on Saturdays with the regular top 10 list and again @ 3 for the extra requests. Frequently check my thread for updates.
