I have used Format Factory several times, and the only complaint is that it takes a while; but it never crashed my comp. There are some other thread stating that you could download a program from piratebay.com, though I can't remember the name.

The one on piratebay is free and called VIO Video converter.   Should be simple to download and install.

That's the name that I couldn't think of; actually, he was who told me about previously.

CloneDVDMobile is a great program but if I remember correctly, you have to pay for it.  I've had it quite awhile and have had almost no problems converting.  The only problems I have had involved the disc being too scratched or something.  I use the Microsoft Zune (mp4) settings combined with DVD43 and they work perfectly.  It has zoom options to get rid of the black bars of widescreen.

Ojosoft total video converter is the best one I have ever used. I have 3 movies on my phone. Friday the 13th, mallcop and Gran Torino. They all look and sound good. If you search the web you can find full versions. It will convert to avi,mp4,3gp,mpeg,vob,mov,wmv,flv,audio and about 10 others.

I had to edit this post cause I posted to somewhere I shouldn't have according to the forum rules so for that I apologize and have corrected it. However, this is still the best conversion software I have ever used.
