Also (Sorry For Reposting) Read This.

Galaxy S is working with TZones. I dropped my SIM into my co-workers new Galaxy S and was surfing via 3G. speedtest.net confirms. Only had it in his phone about 10 minutes or so. Therefore, can't confirm that it will work long term. Does T-Mobile do IMEI sweeps? Or maybe they haven't banned this one yet?

Found This In The HowardsForums.

I think I'm going to try this out, and doggy at T-Mobile if they automatically put it on my contract. I'm pretty sick of the shoot they force us to do, especially considering their Samsung Android lineup has previously shown to lack support and future upgrades (the Behold 2...).

My Wal-Mart does not yet have the Vibrant, and I was going to ask them for information about the whole process. For now I can't give you any info. on that, sorry.

What are other peoples' inputs on the above method of getting it?
I hate to be the pessimist, but I don't think it will work. T-Mobile is dumb, but not that dumb. It's too predictable for people to not manually add the data plan for T-Mobile not to have some way of making sure it's added.

What doesn't make sense is how TMobile and all those other carriers would require a friggin $30 data plan on an android that already has wifi capabilities.

And after reading further into what OlvinX posted, T-Zones internet access will not work with an Android (T-Mobile) phone other than the Behold II and the Nexus One. :/ But of course, I have not tried using TMobileX on the Vibrant with T-Zones so I cannot say much yet. Maybe I can go into the store and try out my SIM on the Vibrant there?

What exactly is Tzones? Is it the ability to access wap.t-zones.com and the sites associated with it? (Basic mobile web in other words?)
Because I can tell you that even without wifi, the Tmobile G1 can access the tzones site, plus it can access Tele's TmobileX without a problem. (I have personally tested it)

I'll look into the logo in a few minutes. I'm chatting live with T-Mobile.

This is what I'm trying to do:

Because one of the lines on my account (not mine) is eligible for a full upgrade (22/24 months now), I want to upgrade it to the Samsung Vibrant for around $200 as advertised. I called up T-Mobile's Customer Loyalty department, and verified that the $20 (rather than the standard $30) Preferred Android Data Plan _DOES_ exist for loyal customers who have been with T-Mobile for quite some time (we have since 2003). I DO have the option to use this plan rather than the $30/mo one if I get the Vibrant; however, I _CANNOT_ place this plan or the other one on MY line. It'd have to stay on the other one. The only solution I can think of is to get the Vibrant, get the cheaper $20 plan, and use the other line's phone number instead. It'll be a big switch... but is it worth it for the Vibrant? Or would it simply be better to buy a N1 of eBay for a little more and not worry about all that? The Vibrant is a lot faster and nicer in many ways... but... What do you guys think?

Get the Vibrant and the data plan. Then, try switching sim cards so that you're using the Vibrant on your non-data plan SIM, and put the Sim with the $20 data into the Behold. Call Customer Care or chat with a T-mobile rep online and ask them to remove that plan because you don't need it on the Behold. This just might work. After all, with the wifi capabilities, why would you need one?

Oh and thanks for working on that logo today. (and not tomorrow) If you can have it up and working tonight, I'd be even happier.

Would that work? The Android data plans are part of your contract when purchased... after being told what I've been told I'd assume you couldn't get rid of it? Plus, doesn't the SIM have to be activated for Android?

Everything's worth a try, you could also try explaining how the phone has wifi, which you probably use all the time, so the data plan is just extra dead weight for you to carry.

I think I'll just try and buy one off craigslist, and stick my SIM in there (and change the settings for the T-Mobile network if I have to). It shouldn't be a problem - worst case scenario I still have WiFi.
