this one is almost funny
* 1993: Garry Hoy, a Toronto lawyer, fell to his death after he threw himself through the glass wall on the 24th floor of the Toronto-Dominion Centre in order to prove the glass was “unbreakable.”
LoL while it's true that this particular incident is unfortunate, you can't help but chuckle a little bit. People will usually throw a chair or a baseball or something to prove things like this. Makes you wonder "what was he thinking???"
* 1987: Budd Dwyer, the State Treasurer of Pennsylvania, committed suicide during a televised press conference in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Facing a potential 55-year jail sentence for alleged involvement in a conspiracy, Dwyer shot himself in the mouth with a revolver.

A co-worker showed this to me like a year ago. The part that bothered me was that there was like a 5-8 second gap between when he pulled out the revolver and when he actually took his life, yet those who were in the audience were gasping and saying things like "No! Don't do it!" and no one actually reacted until his brains were all over the platform behind him. I don't know about you guys, but if someone pulls out a revolver on stage at some press conference, my booty is
GONE! Just kidding!!! No, but seriously...
From what the guy was saying (apologizing to his family and whatnot) you could tell he wasn't going to hurt anyone but himself. But still...there were plenty of people who I'm guessing were his Security who were in close proximity (2-3 yards) to him who could have tackled him or something to stop him.
