I've had mine for a week now and I'm annoyed with a lot of the features (or lack of features, shall I say??)

For starters, there's no email widget yet they have TWO widgets for "Messages" (one of which is worthless)
There's no way to get rid of certain ones of the widgets like the Music Player widget or the Events widget.
The widgets menu resets whenever you turn the phone off or even go into the widget menu to revise.
The alerts volume is WAY too low even when you turn it up to 7 (Go to Menu, Settings, Sound Profiles, Normal, click the drop down menu in the upper right corner and choose "Message". Even if you set the "Message alert repetition" to "Periodic"  the phone wont periodically sound when you have a new alert message. And even if you set the "Alert tone volume" to the highest setting, 7, the darn volume is still WAY too low. You can barely hear it even if youre a few feet from the phone.
There's NO wifi!
The text message I wish would show up threaded like a conversation message.
Would be nice if it had a Stylus pen (it IS a touchscreen) becuase I sometimes use a regular pen top to navigate.

Anyway, the things I like about the phone are:
The look-love that it comes in Pink (umm, I mean the "Rose" color)  Wink The back cover is a cool silver/titanium looking plate but they could have just made that pink too. Even on the Espresso (brown) color, the back of it is colored, not steel plated.
It's not reall heavy and feels great in your hand.
It's sleek and I like that it's a touch screen but you still have a few buttons at the bottom. The middle button is a "back" button
Also, you dont have to worry about it calling people on it's own if it gets bumped in your pocket or purse because it's not gonna just activate the keyboard when you touch it. You have to press the back button or the send or end button (Yes, even when the phone is not set on "lock keypad")

I could add more to my list of likes and dislikes as well...

After reading you lists, I am already beginning to regret accepting this phone as a LOANER because the G1 just won't seem to come out. I just got a call from the store which has more shipping problems and will not have the BEHOLD until tomorrow.

The good news...the store, with some urging from T Mobile...  Angry Grin Wink have agreed to let me keep both phones....after I threatened to take my deposit and contract back. So I guess I will have to come back tomorrow and see what's what.

Prec, is the phone at all powerful? No email widget is just dumb. I mean, I was a 4 year TREO user. From the 650 to the 755p. Had Palm updated their O/S and announced the Treo Pro (Jan) sooner, I might have held on. As it looks, I might be going right back to Sprint if these cats renege.

Hmmm, you know its a really tough call for me becuase this is the first phone I've really been exciteda bout and I wanna love it so bad but... there are lots of things that are stupid about this phone. I researched phones for months and I was going to leave TMobile to go with the pink blackberry pearl from Verizon. I also researched the Palm Centro. I looked at a lot of phones and played with a lot. I decided on this one. As of right now, the BEST thing I think I can say is that it is really cute. Unfortunately, for some, cute wont cut it...

Hopefully, when software updates come out, it will fix some of these problems. I just discovered another "glitch". Periodically, when I check my Yahoo mail from the phone, I will see an empty email message with no subject and no info on who the email is from. If you click on that message, it locks up the phone! Then you can go back or anything. The phone just freezes up!
I have been with TMobile for over 5 years now and I would really like to stay. Honestly, with all the issues I'm having with this phone, I get more and more pissed when i think of how much money I paid for it!

Ok, I finally got the damn phone. lol.
Can u believe after promising me all what they have (see above) they still were 2 days late. lol. Anyway...

I actually like the phone. The movement and the little bells and vibrations add to the cosmetics of the phone. I honestly do not understand why why WHY did TMobile lock this phone. It seems that only half its potential is being tapped and that is what is leading to its being categorized as a NON-Smartphone when it easily could have been (like the Samsung Omnia) lives up to it's fullest. I am going to list the CONS then the PROS, in that order. lol.

CONS:
1. No pocket Word/Excel/Acrobat. This needs to be fixed, NOW!
2. As PREC said...WHERE IS THE EMAIL WIDGET??? Smart Phone or not, the phone needs email push.
3. NO WI-FI. Why would you risk dooming a touchscreen phone by not including WI-FI like moronic Sprint?
4. Let me customize my desktop (background) so I can make the phone mine. Geez.
5. The Browser BLOWS!!! My god, could nothing have been done about this? I've had better in 2001.
6. PREC was 1005 correct about the alerts volume. Not the ringer, but the message alerts. This is so low I almost got into it with a good friend who felt ignored when I really couldn't hear the alert.

PROS:
1. Not too big. Not too small. The sizing is a good enough not to be a baby phone and its pretty sturdy.
2. The Widgets are cool and a great touch, but it does default after a phone reset. DUMB.
3. I like the accelerometer that changes screen view with a tilt of the phone. Nice touch.
4. The keyboard reaction while typing is cool. Lets me know the key was actually pushed by giving a small nudge with each stroke.
5. I'm gonna cheat and give it another plus...POTENTIAL! I think a nice firmware update (or a nice unlocking by the boy-geniuses out there) will bring this unit up in the competitive market. That or the next version which Samsung can hopefully allow to remain more along the lines of its sister phone, the Omnia, which is a beast in comparison

Bottom line...this is not a bad phone. Not a great phone. Not a crappy phone (at all). You can always wait for the HTC Touch Pro (which I almost urinated on myself using...in a 'good' way) or get the G1 which is buggy due to the baby step stage for Google. I think Samsung will learn its lesson and update the firmware to allow more apps and stop being idiots for the sake of a buck.

Thanks to PREC18 who helped me make a decent choice.

I'm glad you got yours in! Your post was right on!
When you say, "the phone needs email push" does that just mean that it doesnt have an email widget or are saying the phone doesnt push email messages right to the phone?

Also what's meant by the fact that T-Mo wont unlock the phone??

Well, Prec...for instance, both Sprint and Verizon carried the TREO 600/650/700/755p/etc... Now Verizons version had the WiFi and also obtained Windows mobile 5 (I think) like 2 or 3 years ahead of Sprint because Sprint wanted to force you into paying for their "data plan" which was like $20 for the Powervision. They had Palm purposely 'gimp' the phone by removing WiFi (up until like earlier this year) and I think Verizon had some 'exclusivity' to the Windows thru Palm.

The result...Palm got bad reviews fromsome users who just thought the Treo was a big ole waste of space. I loved it and still want the Treo Pro (coming soon).

This seems like one of those instances in regards to the Behold. This phone could have been way better had (what I suspect to be) Verizon not had the same deal with the Omnia, which is a small beast (in a good way) in comparison.

For some reason though, I still kinda like the phone. I do hope a patch from Sam-Dung...I mean...Samsung will fix this retarded message alerts not coming in speakerphone mode. Instead coming thru as a if you were hearing a call-waiting alert. They had to know this was an issue. They just didn't give a damn.

At 7am, they will.

Ok, Samsung (who will now be referred to as SAM-DUNG) basically acted as if NOOOOOOOOO one called about this issue, when I see others have clearly called from reading the posts. After asking me 746 questions about me setting the sound properly, they basically took all my contact info short of my SS# (their version of 'acting concerned') and promised that they would inform me or send me an update ASAP. I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt (instead of my soul) and see if these cats come up with a viable fix in the next few days/week. They had to know of this issue when testing the unit. I still stand by them NOT giving a damn and looking to make a Black Friday buck.

This is what kills phones. People don't want to have to call manufacturers and usually just hike it back to the carrier. I hope they handle this because they are ruining an otherwise nice experience with a cool phone for users.

Prec, the difference between the Treo and Centro are the the screen resolution, size, weight and memory capability. The TREO is the father to the Centro san. lol. I have a 755p (currently taking a rest) and in its day, the Treo was a beast. I know that PRO (please, a new more attractive name) is coming and it looks and reads like it could be a major comeback for PALM who is in serious trouble and laying off over 1400 workers before Christmas.

I think the Behold will be around for a minute. This is the first version and 'at our own risk' (as with any version 1 of most phones including the Apple deity) we are suffering those Version 1.0 blues. I say nag em till they break:

SAMSUNG 888-987-HELP. There is no wait time when you call and just basically be a nag. They will think I work there soon. lol.

These posts are great and everything said is so accurate. It isn't a horrible phone, but it definitely has the potential to be a lot better.
