Hi.  I was an idiot and downloaded some unsigned files trying to get a free navigation app on my phone, now telenav has disappeared, and none of my apps or games will open, I get a java error about exception, out of memory.  Is there anyone who would help me fix this, I am desperate.  When I try to open say, Smarter Shopper, the java cup comes up, then it goes back to overall games and apps screen. Thank you for your time, Cindy

I don't see how one unproperly installed game/app would affect your entire directory. I don't know if this will work or if it's worth the risk (I'm not liable), but maybe you should clear everything and reinstall it.

I'm really not sure how it did mess them all up, but as I said, it was my fault for being cheap and trying to get something without paying for it.  First it made all my games and apps files have a JPG extension on the home page, then I went in and tried to do a java update, that got rid of the JPG, but the same problem was still there, none of the apps will open, even the ones I have paid for.  I looked into the phone with TK explorer, and the files are still there, but unless someone who knows can tell me what to do with file explorer, I am afraid to do anything else, I don't want to make it worse.  I appreciate you writing back! One thing I forgot to add, when in games and apps if I touch more then details for the apps still there, they all say "signed untrusted".

As far as I know I did, and I don't know how the typo got in my last response except I used my ipod, what I meant to say was when the games and apps page is open, and I touch "more" then details, all the apps say they are "Sign:Untrusted".  None of them will open, a few have disappeared completely from my phone, some still show up in TK File explorer.  Should I delete all from my phone and try to reinstall?  If they won't open now, will they open if reinstalled?  How do I reinstall from TK?  Why did I do such a dumb thing? (I know you won't have an answer for the last one)  Thanks again, Cindy

I just tried to open TK file explorer and it will no longer open.  Last night the phone stopped connecting, and I could not get it to re-connect no matter what I tried.  Today it will not open on my computer at all, obviously I have really messed something up.

I'm not sure what's going on with your games, but to get the phone to connect to TKFE, try plugging it into a different USB port. Out of the ten or so on my computer, only two can successfully connect to TKFE. And sometimes one of them jumps around.

Something is really wrong here, now I cannot even get TKFE to open, probably need to re-download from somewhere, I have tried compatibility troubleshooter, and it says it's incompatible with my version of windows, which is 7 ultimate, but yesterday it opened fine.  The program recognized my phone and connected last night, then lost the connection-I did try every other USB port I could find, didn't make a difference, so I turned off the computer last night, when I started it up earlier today TKFE would not open and still will not.  I didn't even make any changes to the phone with TKFE last night, I was just looking to see if I could find any dates that had modifications, which I didn't.  I'm thinking maybe none of my games and apps will open because the permissions or whatever are untrusted, could that be the issue?  Maybe I should delete them all and try to re download them if I can ever get TKFE to work again.  I really have no idea what could have gone this wrong, but it has.  Almost all my stuff is saved to a mini SD card, is there a way to reinstall the OS from scratch?

Okay, I downloaded TKFE again, selected another COM port and the phone is connected, that's a start.  Now if you know how to tell me to reinstall the OS from scratch that would be great, and I know you are not liable, I'm the one who messed up my phone.  Thanks again, Cindy

I downloaded and installed TKFE again, it worked the first time and connected, now it will not open at all, just like the one I deleted.  Is it possible for a phone to spread a virus to a computer, and why wouldn't it be especially since the phone uses java and a lot of viruses are spread through java.  I cannot think of any other reason why the program opens once just fine and connects, and after that nothing.  Please don't let me be the only one who has done something this stupid.

Yeah, it's definitely possible, but less likely than it would be for a computer. Just hit the master reset.

Menu > Settings > Reset settings > Master reset

The code will be whatever you set as for your PIN code. If you never messed around with it...I dunno what the code is.

One last question please, so that I don't have to worry about what I might lose in a master reset, is it possible that I could just delete the 5 games/apps in the games and apps file on the phone and then reinstall from what shows up as still there in TKFE? Or do you think I would still have apps that do not open? I was hoping if I deleted
all the untrusted signed apps, that the originals that show up in TK might not be corrupted. Thank you again,'i really do appreciate the time and help I have received so far.

if i get what you are saying, you are asking that after you remove the corrupt apps, that the signed ones might work again, i really dunno, but since your system sounds pretty messed up over all, i think the best thing to do is master reset then reinstall the apps again, for what i know, t mo keeps a record of the games/apps bought, and you can redownload them free if they are still sold

You can try removing all of the games and apps, like I mentioned in my first post, but if it is a virus that has messed up your phone, then it wouldn't do anything. On the other hand, if it's not a virus, your problem may be solved.

Hi.  You won't believe this, but I just got both your messages, turned my phone on, and the apps work again!  Just like that with nothing I knowingly did, the only one missing is telenav and I didn't use that anyway, it was so slow sometimes I was home before it would even do anything.  I am completely amazed, and I appreciate your time and help very much.

Thank you,
Cindy
