Ok. so after talking to samsung and t-mo i got alot of good information.

Wildly if you followed the tethering threads before i said i got it to work then couldn't remember how to do it again.  so here we go step by step.

Plug in USB to Behold.  Select PC STUDIO.

Launch PC STUDIO 3

Click networking wizard.
Next
Click Create
Next.
Create connection name : FONE (for something to put in)
Next
Select Samsung Mobile Modem
Next
Select country  : USA.  (the rest of the fields  will auto populate.)
Click At&t tab, Change to T-Mobile.
Check that the rest of the fields are populated with the following.
     APN: Internet2.voicestream.com
Phone Number: *99**1*1#   (if this number does not work, you can use *99#)
     User ID: Samsung
     Password:  *autopopulated*
Next
Verify connection properties.
Next
Make sure that Connect to the internet directly box is check.
Finish.

There you go, you now have tethered your behold to your laptop using your data connection.

yeah. so these tethering instructions don't work. every other forum knew this about a week ago.
this phone CANNOT currently be tethered. both T-Mobile support and Samsung support state so, and the phone internally lacks the profiles to be used as a modem through both USB and Bluetooth.
Let me guess. If all goes correctly when you install PC Studio 3 and create the tethering connection and try to dial, your computer gives off either a 561 or a 777 error?
Yeah. that's because the Behold doesn't have the ability to process modem commands.
These instructions DO NOT work (take it from someone who has actually tried with two different Windows computers, an Ubuntu linux computer and a Mac to tether this phone).
This should be unstickied and deleted.

all disagreements aside, what is positive is that this tethering solution is NOT working for anyone, even on the other Behold forums..... (unless someone here has gotten it working?!).
I think to make it work, one would have to either modify the profiles available for tethering and modem use, and/or change/reprogram the modem script for the Behold.

We already have news of an init string that apparently needs to be added to the Behold when it's being used as a modem (added in Device Manager under the Samsung Mobile Modem tab under Advanced).... Unfortunately that by itself isn't fixing things.

Well now.  I'm sorry you feel like this post was getting you no where.  The code works in the U.S. So if you are not from the states, i doubt if it will work for you.  The modem string, if you need it, is included in the second part of the topic post.  As for it not being stickied.  I try 99.98% of the stuff i do before i post it.  I would not have went thru and wrote a step by step, if it had not worked for me.  Get me some of your information and i'll do my best to find out how to get it to work where you are at.

YOU GOT IT TO WORK?!
wow. you're one of 2 (someone on Tmonews.com's Behold forum got it to work 3 days ago)...
I've tried and tried....
1. Install the Samsung modem drivers from the Samsung website
2. Install PC Studio 3.
3. Plug phone in, go to Network Connection Wizard.
4. Change options to "USA" and "T-Mobile", finalize settings.
5. Try to connect. Error 561 or 777.
6. Input init string. Doesn't work. Remove init string. Doesn't work.
6. Unplug. Replug. Same thing. Restart computer. Replug. Same thing. Curse and drop phone from a short distance onto floor (same thing). Drop phone from slightly higher distance. Same thing. Get drunk. Repeat. Same thing (though I may have jammed the USB cable into the DVD-RW drive that time.....)

With two separate computers, both on Windows XP Pro SP2.
BTW, I'm in the US, in a REALLY high bar 3G service area (near Apple headquarters in CA)...
What's different between mine and yours?

PS: I totally didn't mean to be rude about it not working... it wasn't my intention at all.
