I used it hoping to finally change the lock screen wallpapers.  And I was able to use WinImage to successfully delete and replace the Lock Screen Pictures that are locked through TK and other methods (/Systemfs/media/images). I simply put the pictures I wanted with the same image dimensions and same (Tmobile)Wallpaper .bmp/.jpg names.  So, the install went well, and I see my personal images in the folder where those wallpapers used to be, and the image for TmobileWallpaper1.jpg that I put in is the default Wallpaper.  But when I pull up the lock screen, I get the same flowers and old Tmobile images!  Are they hidden in the binary file somehow?  I thought this was finally the screen lock image solution, but it failed again.

The software flash and everything went as expected though, so thanks for that.  If anyone finds those hidden files, please let us know.

yeah unfortunately the lock screen images are locked down under multiple redundancies. No one has yet found the other locations in the firmware, but what we do know is its not in the factory.ffs file, which is the only file set we can edit...for now. you can also replace telenav with amaze gps which will then launch with the telenav widget however it still says telenav in the app list and the icon is still the telenav icon. doing this though can be risky and may require reflashing your phone with original firmware. i have heard of resarting issues once this change is made...as in phone restarts randomly, though i myself haven't experienced this. long story short making this change really isn't all it cracked up to be and really comes off amateurish as far as looks. if you still want to try though there are brief instructions on the eternity forum, basically just replace the jar and jad inside the app. if you don't know what you're doing don't bother. happy modding!

I am NOT an expert in the area of hacking files directly, so I would never try to take on a task I didn't already have explicit instructions detailing the process.  Having said that, my question for the forum is this:  Now that we know we can bring bricked Beholds back to life, does anyone know how to pull the updated firmware (or at least the firmware with the additional games/apps listed in a prior post) OFF a working behold?

It would be cool to have THAT version of the firmware (with the extra goodies) available to those who want to experiment with their phones without losing "The Sims," etc. if they have to reflash a bricked Behold...

Steve

I want to try this method with my bricked Behold, but for some reason it's not responding when I attempt to put it in bootloader mode. I took both the SIM and the memory card out, so now it's just the phone and the battery and I'm holding down the lower volume and end buttons, but nothing's happening. I've tried taking the battery out and waiting for a few minutes up to an hour (my phone stopped working at around 11 am est) and putting it back in and then trying but to no avail.

Does anybody have any idea why my phone could be in this state?

Lower volume?  It's the power button while already holding down the lock and camera buttons.

im really curious of how you and or this person got this Rom to flash the behold.
there has to be some more insight/detail on how this was achieved so that way people with newer version can dump and post for others to upgrade/flash and customize etc...  if you could be so kind on how this was done that would be great.

i have searched all over and same with the f480 no one posts on how they dumped/ripped the rom from the phone and its getting a bit frustrating. if you and or anyone could shine some light on this that would be great. and please dont post something about using TKExplorer thats not even close to what im talking about.

Thanks,
Fuzzy~

Sell one on ebay xD
Sry I posted it the first thing I heard about someone using Behold firmware for an experiment on the Eternity site. I knew you guys were lacking it, so I posted this. Also, I like your movies section, so I decided to give some love back to you guys.

The firmware does not include "The Sims" or whatever apps you have, so dumping your current one would do nothing. Also, any firmware loading, even if it was the same version, will delete all previous phone data. Sorry. You can upload the .jar and .jad from TK File Explorer, though, or bitpim, whatever you use.

im really curious of how you and or this person got this Rom to flash the behold.

The Tocco? I think there is firmware for it...

Now why do you need to know how they dumped the ROM? You can always use someone else's firmware to edit... BUT I am breaking a rule (sorry!) and posting a link to another forum that shows how to dump a ROM from another samsung phone: http://www.howardforums.com/archive/topic/1018461-1.html
(this uses physical keys though... you could try using the power/volume down buttons at the same time, or other combinations might work?)

Could one of you guys give this a sticky? This would be useful if someone comes crying about their bricked phone to the forum and they need to find this fast.

Oh and if you try, you won't be able to re-flash the behold firmware. Basically, you will be screwed.
