just a little thing I've found useful in the past

your text address is an email address, its yournumber@tmomail.net

In the past I've had my email's forwarded to my texts, facebook, and some forums.  Now I dont really need it since I live in a 3g area.  Yahoo mail is a free site on the Behold and I take advantage of that since I didnt buy an email/data plan.  I've forwarded all my gmail to my yahoo.

Thanks for the tip, this might be very useful especially for people who get unlimited text plans.

I'm curious about the Yahoo mail though. You say it's free without a data plan? How does this work? Can you tell me where I can learn more about this? Thanks.

hmm, are you sure T-mobile won't charge for data transfer if you don't have a data plan? I'm new to this whole data thing for cell phones. But I read that some other providers do charge on a per-packet basis if you don't have a data plan.

you can use tzones as much as you want and not get charged, its the same with going to the bookmarked websites, you cant get to any other websites, so that means you're not getting charged

So any website that I bookmark on my own I can still get to if I drop my data plan?
I asked a TMobile rep at the store if I'd still get access to my regular email if I drop my data plan and he said it just depends. He said he knows some people that still have access to their email without the data plan but then some others dont. Maybe he didnt know that the Yahoo mail access is free.

no, only the pre-bookmarked sites are free, they are subscribed with tmobile.  If you look at the url, its something like yahoo.tmobile.blabla, or cnn.tmo.com, something like that.  These are meant to be free.  And then of course theres the 5.99 proxy you can do, but tmobile already bumped me off  Tongue  The 5.99 proxy is when you subscribe to the 5.99 data plan, then proxy it to be the full data plan.  I've used this for many of my phones i've bought.

I've never heard of this $5.99 data plan. What is meant by "then proxy it to be the full data plan"Huh

If I go to the web on the phone and then click the little star (bookmarks) icon on the bottom, I see a list of bookmarked sites and YahooMail is one of them but I thought I remembered putting that bookmark there myself...

a proxy is a re-route address, the browser reads this and believes it to be the full plan, the 5.99 plan is the simple tzones plan.  As for the bookmarks, yahoo mail was already there.

Ok, I called TMobile and they told me I cant get any other package with my phone except the SmartPhone packages/Web2Go plans. She also said there's no more $5.99 plan. Instead, that $5.99 plan was replaced with a $9.99 plan which cant be put on the Behold phone. She even tried and said she could not add it. I told her I didnt understand why she SmartPhone Plans were the only options showing available for the Behold because I had the $19.99 Interent plan on my phone previously despite the fact that she said no other plan was "showing up" for the Behold. That's when she tried to add the TZones plan but couldnt.

I just purchased a Behold and was told I needed the $24.99 plan to get the rebate (which I signed up for).  When the rebate is approved I plan to log on to 'my tmobile' web site, switch my phone type from behold to a "non smartphone" like T459, and then drop the unlimited web2go ($24.95) and add capped web2go ($9.99).  I've already verified this by switching phone types on the web site and seeing the $9.99 plan "appear" and become available for selection.

has anyone done this yet, and do I need to do anything special to *use* the $9.99 plan from my behold?

I actually didnt see a "T459" phone listed there. I chose the Samsung T429,then under the Internet and Email options, I chose the $9.99 "100 MB web  phones" plan. So now I'm just waiting...

Oh cool, I'm so glad you're trying this.  My wife just got the Samsung Gravity (Aqua) and that is how they have it offered in the list of phones to choose from.  I refer to the phone by its model T459, sorry for the confusion.   Embarrassed

I really hope this works for you as I need to do the same thing in a month!   Wink
