remove the basic search

ok so alot of new ppl have been "searching" then posting topics that have already been posted and answer.
so im thinking that the little search option thats below the inivisible shield ad should be removed. it would save alot of double posts and alot of newbies being told to search

the quick search option is confusing at first and it doesn't seem to work.  i think most people are using the quick search feature and expecting it to search the entire forum.  what's happening is that it will only search for what the user is looking for at whatever part of the forum they are currently viewing.

example: if i'm reading a thread in "Samsung Behold Forum > Community & News  > Announcements >" and then try to quick search for "java update", it will only search for "java update" in the "Samsung Behold Forum > Community & News  > Announcements >" forum level and ultimately won't find what i'm looking for.  yet if i search for the same exact thing while viewing Samsung Behold forum's main page, it will search the entire site.


i think it's this "misunderstanding" that causes many people to say they searched and didn't find anything.

even on the home page the search isnt as good, you can search and get one find, then use the advanced search and get like 50

well thru SMF it's not exactly that easy..  There just needs to be a few parameter changes to the search criteria, and only admins with super admin capability can change that.  I can't get that far into the site with my admin rights.  Persian might be able to.

alright cuz its causing alot of confusion and useless posts cuz the newer ppl are searching but there just using the subpar search

I think it would be easier to use for the newer members on the search if there were like key words they typed in on the search for that particular topic. ya kno, a lot of them dun really kno what to search for when they 1st join and they search and search but can't find it. but more then likely we've already talked about it.. jus throwin sum out there tho. addin a feature like that may throw off the whole seach system..
