mytouch

hey all, i recently started using a mytouch, but i DO NOT have a data plan.  and i will never get a data plan (i know the phone is mostly useless without a data plan, but i just use the wifi whenever i want to use any apps that require internet).  but my question is, on my samsung behold, the proxy websites work perfectly, but on the mytouch, the proxy sites do not work.  on the mytouch the screen that says i need a data plan comes up.  any idea why the proxys work on my behold, but do not work on the mytouch?  if i could get the proxy to work on the mytouch, that would be great, so that way i dont have to go on wifi just to check the weather or sports scores.

also, the free sites that are on the samsung behold, do not work on the mytouch.  why would the free sites work on the behold, but not the mytouch?  thanks!
