I just got this Phone the other day and when I get a text message even though the alert is set at it's highest seven. It sounds like it is at one of two. I already exchanged the phone and the new one has the same problem. The is also a girl that i work with that is experiencing this. Has anyone else had this problem?

The battery also, days in like 6 hours just from text messaging after being plugged in 8 hours while i sleep that's horrible.

I called samsung they wanted me to ship out my one day old phone to them to have it fixed skrew that!

have you let you battery totally discharge yet,,then charge it? somestimes that helps...and you can change your message alert with another ringtone that is louder than tmo's standard tone instructions below and give credit to holdingbehold member for finding it

Menu -> Settings -> Sound Profiles -> Normal (or which ever profile you want to customize) -> Press the Down arrow on the top right corner for "Message" -> And Customize your Text Message Notification

I noticed the same thing- that the message alert volume sounds really lwo even though I have it set at the highest (7). Anotehr thing that's pissing me off is that under Soudn Profiles and under Messages, I have the "Message Alert" repetition set to "Periodic" so the sound can periodically go off to let me knwo when there's a missed call, email messat, text message, etc but it never sounds more than once! That's the point of setting it to Periodic- so it will "periodically" play the sound.

I have found that the battery life is pretty good. Mine only needs to be charged about once a day after plenty of playing around and internet surfing. I did fully charge it when I first got it though.

"Menu -> Settings -> Sound Profiles -> Normal (or which ever profile you want to customize) -> Press the Down arrow on the top right corner for "Message" -> And Customize your Text Message Notification "

Even AFTER doing this, the message tone is still not loud enough and it DOESNT periodically sound to let you know you have a missed message which is weird because once, it WAS doing that. Also, for the alert box that pops up when you have a new email or text message- the words inside (the time and date of the new message) scrolls accross the screen sometimes and sometimes it doesnt. These are annoying "bugs" IF they even are bugs at all.

Thanks! Do you just go into your phone menu to add the "firmware" update?? Under the Software Update application??

prec18 I did some palying around with the message alert tone,,first i set it to the tjingle,,starts out softly but gets louder,,then i tried a ringtone I downloaded from tzones and it had the same results..it got louder,,(had my son text me) so if you do the same with one of the preloaded ringtones or one you downloaded you should have the same results i had..hope this helps..

I know what you mean but...this still doesnt help. Here's why: first off, the melody tone shouldnt even be increasing in volume becuase udner Settings and Sound Profiles, I have the "Call alert type" set to  "Melody" not "Increasing Melody" yet the melody still starts low then gets louder. (Huh?)  Also, one thing I cant figure out is under "messages" for the drop down menu under Sound Profile, Normal,  I have the Message alert repitition set to "Periodic" which means when you miss a call, message or email alert, the phone should sound off with your selected tone every few minutes until you check or disarm the alert.  It doesnt do it though! You get ONE alert when you miss a call and that's it. No "periodic" tone repietiions. I think this is a bug.

I realized that the MESSAGE ALERTS are playing thru the headset at a standard 'phone in use' volume instead of switching to speaker phone to alert you. What bothers me is that the phone has been out over 2 weeks and Samsung isn't even trying to address the issue. As if they are just gonna let it be and move on.

Do we have to create a Samsung bashing forum?

So how long does it usually take before new phones come out with the updates??? I keep checking my phone under "Software Update". Hey! Iknow! Maybe they have made updates but that's just another glitch right. The updates arent showing, and they're working on that too~
Just teasing!! I dont mean to sound so.  Grin Cheesy
