some say charge it first, some say drain it.  Personally, I think draining it always gives it the best battery life, but thats just me

I agree drain it first. That's what I've always done, never had battery life issues. Also unplug as soon as it is fully charged.

Dpaul- I've read several articles all of which give varying answers whether to charge or drain first.  My experience has been great with the latter, mostly because I'm impatient and want to play with my new toy right away! Here's a couple links:

http://www.cellpower.com/battery_tips.cfm
http://www.cellularaccessory.com/batmain.html

You can always do google search as well. I had a dash before the behold and I only got about a day out of it at most (I had several charges). So far with the behold I can go two days with using the mp3 for 8hrs (work) and an hour or two of surfing both days. That's really good in my opinion.

Depending on the type of battery you can do either or.   Most 83% will say charge then drain the battery, then recharge to full power. Everytime a battery drains it loses some of its original charge.  When you first turn on your fone you are already in the middle of what was a full charge.  Batteries learn by charge cycles.  If you constantly charge after half way thru, the battery will start going weak half way thru.

Dont listen to any of these guys. Here's what u need to do. Talk on the phone until you have one bar left. Then charge it until you have three bars. Then text until you get down to one bar. Then turn the phone off, jump up and down three times and charge it for 2 minutes.  Shocked

...That, my friend, is the secret to a long and happy battery life.  Wink LOL LOL
