Anyone else having this problem? TeleNav gets to 96%, sits idle for a while and returns "weak GPS signal, need clearer sky view". Neither Samsung nor TMob seems to know what's wrong but I know for a fact that 2 TMob employees who have Beholds are having the same issue and I found a review today where they mention having the same problem. I'm not getting anywhere with Samsung or TMob's tech support and it seems like the only way this'll get fixed is if people start reporting the problem. So if you're having the same problem, please let Samsung/TMob know.

Thanks,
Roy

p.s. Here's the review if anyone's interested:

"The reason I chose this phone was to get the turn-by-turn directions from the GPS with Telenav. The phone itself looked good, felt good in the hand and pocket. We tried the GPS after activation in the store, and it never found a signal. We assumed that was because we were indoors. Unfortunately, it never found a signal at all- it would spend about 5 minutes calculating the route and give an error message that either the GPS signal was too weak or the connection to the server timed out. (I live in a densely populated suburb of Boston).

Long story short- I spent a couple of hours with three different tech support people at Telenav who finally told me the GPS on the phone was not working and to return it. Next, I spent an hour or so returning the phone. We tried another unit, and got the same result, even after confirming that my data plan with T-mobile was functioning and in order.

I can't say exactly if the problem was with the geographical area I live in, or the service. It appeared to affect more than just my phone. I walked over to a verizon kiosk in the mall, and their VZ Navigator worked indoors and came up instantly. Maybe it's a new product glitch they can fix, but check this function out in the store before you buy the phone."

The first time I turned mine on it hung at 96% for like 5 minutes (getting a GPS fix isn't instantaneous, nor are you guaranteed to ever have enough satelites overhead to get a good fix), then it was fine afterwards.  Every time you fire it up, expect a few minutes for an initial fix.

GPS is nowhere near as accurate as most folks think, same with reliability.

Telenav is a 14 day trial. then you have to pay for a new license.  try googlemaps.

Google maps, the version that works for us right now, doesn't work with our GPS.

MGMAPS works fine with our GPS.

Probably not hon, GPS is GPS, if you want a program to record coordinates, tracks, ect, there are plenty of those for free.  If you want something that shows directions, imagery ect, you'll need a data plan to download the extra stuff.

some sites are still free if you dont have internet- the ones that were already bookmarked when you get the phone. I think I had deleted mostly all the ones that were pre bookmarked and added my own but I cant remember what they were. I thought some type of navigation/yahoomaps was one. Not telenav but the yahoo one.
