i think you just need a new encoder cuz obviously your the only one havin major problems
What are you using and what settings? I've tried a couple, but I'm using Any Video Converter right now.
Think about it though, let's say I have a DVD movie that's 1.85 to 1 aspect ratio, so that's 720x390.
If I shrink it down to 320x240, you are either going to crop a ton off the left and right sides of the picture, thus losing a lot of image or it's going to push the image inward horizontally, thus making everything look stretched out vertically.
There's just no way around it. One of those options has to occur.
I guess maybe your encoder is chopping off the sides rather than pushing the image inward.
I'd probably say cropping would be the better of the 2 options, but, for a 1.85 to 1 movie, if you re-encode to 240 vertical pixels, the width should be around 444, so you have to crop out over 25% on the horizontal end to make it fix into 320. That's pretty significant, especially if the movie is framed for 1.85 to 1. I guess it depends on how smart your encoder is with the cropping as well.
I guess it's the same thing that occurs when you get a movie made for widescreen and watch it in SD on a 4x3 TV. You lose a lot of the picture.
I'll try whatever you have at whatever settings you are using and see what I get. I didn't see any way to crop using Any Video Converter.
