I assumed that you wouldn't need a  data plan to use the telenav, I cant get it work, it does have a 10 day trial no? I haven't been able to use it at all!  It always gets to 96% then stops =[ Anyone having difficulties like me?

You do need the internet plan. I have the Total Internet Plan and mine works. Also remember the GPS isnt true GPS, it uses Cellphone Antennas to find your location. I tried using it before I had my Total Internet Plan and it would do the same thing.

Actually it IS a A-GPS which means it is a GPS but Assisted with the use of cell phone towers which makes it faster to pinpoint your location. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AGPS

The 96% problem is just because you don't get good sky coverage... I haven't had a problem with it... Just wait and if you are in a clear enough area it will work.

I don't know about that. I've held a (military gps) in one hand and my Behold in the other hand.  Stopped at 96% using telenav while my other gps popped up with 9 satellites.  Not much research on the company but i think telenav sux.  Shoulda went with tom tom.

Mobile phones originate from military technology, so why not compare?

An initial fix on ANY GPS, civilian or Military, isn't instantaneous.  Yes, you may be instantly tracking 3 to 12 satellites, but that doesn't mean the PDOP or other factors are good enough for a fix.

For anyone with a lot of GPS experience, they can tell you that moving a GPS device a LONG distance while off, and then turning it back on, it takes quite some time to get a new fix.

Samsung is made in Korea.

2 + 2 = Eleventeen.

But seriously... don't anybody think that Military GPS is a little more advanced than the GPS situated in a phone.

Technically without the FCC and My boss showing up at my door. there's a slight difference, but not much.  Pretty much all i can say.

Some of them are, on aircraft and such, but most are NOT.  I was in the US Army for 11 years, was a surveyor for over a year after I got out, and am now a geographer for the US DOI BLM, I've got a bit of experience with civilian, military, and professional grade GPS.

well dont wanna get into the argument above but did talk to customer service and they said its a 14 day trial and yea it does use towers so basically if you really need a gps i would not depend on this one even google maps does a better job. hope this helps

I used telenav. It is good when your phone finds the signal. In my car I have to hold ot next to a window for a strong signal. When it loads ( it takes a few tries sometimes.) it works fine. Yes it is not a tom tom or other full blown GPS. But for $149 and $10 a month.... that's what you get.

i haven't paid for software since the 90's and Telenav won't be an exception. If i was a trucker, maybe 10 bucks would be worth it. but since i don't leave colorado springs, no reason to pay for GPS progs.
