I have some of this stuff http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120310707806&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT&viewitem=

I have a carbon fiber version on my notebook pc. I tested the brushed aluminum on my battery cover and it worked great. Just to bright for my taste. I plan on putting on black or carbon fiber. The carbon fiber actually looks real, not that checker board looking crap.

Wrapping it in vinyl is one way of going about it.  Or you could always just paint it whatever color you want.  Personally I don't know why people have an issue with the back color.  I've got a friend at work who wouldn't get one of these simply because of the brown back.  I don't see how it is even a deciding factor.  It is just color, for crying out loud.  It doesn't affect the functionality of the phone or anything.  However, I would advise that anyone who isn't happy with the case just paint themselves a new one.  How do you think they got the brown on there to begin with. Wink  Sand it down, prime and paint it, wetsand the color coat and then put a clear coat on it.  Viola.  Trust me... As someone who does a whole lot of painting, that process will give you a custom looking phone that nobody else can just pop over to the mall and pick up.

I very much agree and I have also been painting everything in sight for years. Vinyl is just less permanent, and you wouldn't be able to get the look of those vinyl's with a painting process. If not done correctly or with the correct products the paint will chip or wear off, not the vinyl.

Hey browny, I can mail you a piece of the brushed aluminum big enough to cover the battery cover. Let me know.

That is true.  You just have to use the right vinyl or else it will look bad.  That carbon fiber stuff doesn't form as well as regular vinyl.  I've also been wrapping things forever with my other business and I've learned that not all vinyl is created equal.  Some of it with that metallic background tends to curl when you heat it up instead of shrinking around the thing you want to wrap.  Solid colors are the easiest to work with.
