Hello behold forum. I have browsed your forum in the past for knowledge and now I am offering you a little present in return for some info if I can get it. I am an admin on the eternity forum and a mod on the impression forum. I am in a constant search to make our phones better. ATT has really locked our phones down including the gps. I recently devised a way with what I call the goatbreaking method which bypasses all signings to allow all permissions. You can find info on it on the samsung impression forum at

http://www.samsung-impression.org/lg-rumor-tips-and-tricks/amazegps-with-no-settings-bin-hack-and-no-deleting-phonedb_data-00/

It may help out members here but I am not totally up to date on your phone.

Anyways I recently stumbled across a copy of google maps that was installed on samsung phones in the UK. And it uses the gps. I would like to share it with you. The install method I use for the samsung impression and the files can be gotten on the impression site here. Much like your forum you have to register to see the files.

http://www.samsung-impression.org/third-party-samsung-impression-software/full-screen-touch-google-maps/

I am assuming you can just install the jad and jar in a folder and go into your internals with the master key and just update the data base for an easy install.  I leave that up to you.  And I really hope it works for everyone here. Just like my forums a new find brings much excitement.

Now for some info if I can get it from you. As you may not know the mastercode for our 2 phones are yet to be found. So I can not get into the internals yet. I am trying to figure out a way to turn the assisted part of the agps off.  I would like to make it a standalone gps using mgmaps with cached maps. That way when we are out in the sticks with no reception the gps will connect.

In our file system just like yours there is a file called lbsconfig.ini. It is located in the registry folder of the phones file system. I have seen mention on this forum of the same file. This is the file that gets edited when you go into your internals for the gps.

#Version
Version=1
#BASICSETTING
UserConfirm=1
#USERSETTING
OperationMode=0
LbsMode=0
AGpsMode=1
AGpsOption=1
ServiceOption=0
SessionType=0
GpsColdStart=0
NumberOffixes=0
TimeBTWFixes=0
FQDNConfig=0
FQDNCustomString=www.spirent-lcs.com

ServerPort=7275
Performance=255
ThresHold=100
DeviceType=0
#SYSTEMSETTING
SystemDefaultParam=0
SecureSocketUsed=1
IndexOfAPN=1

I am wishing to change some of the settings: lbsmode, agpsmode, agpsoptionmode, serviceoption, sessiontype, and gpscoldstart. But I dont know what number to put after them. I was hoping I could get a helpful Behold member to go into your internals for the gps and list the different options for each if they exist. I then would assume that the first option would be '0' and the second option would be '1'. This would be very helpful for me.

If you decide not to check out the links for the impression forum I uploaded the Google Maps with GPS for you fine folks here. Please show some appreciation by helping me in return.

Thanks,
Agoattamer

I have Google Maps already installed on my phone but decided to try this out anyway.  The only difference I noticed in the two was that this one said "waiting for gps".  Even the version is the same on both--2.3.2   Shouldn't the version number be different than the previous one?

No the version is the same. It seems that google could not release an OTA of Google maps with gps here in the US. Might have something to do with copyrights as Navigator has att, T-mobile, Verizon, and sprint phones locked up with their app. You just cant download this version of 2.3.2 from google.

I found it in the firmware of a UK samsung pixon. This was a factory installed google maps application through samsung. It seems here in the US we get navigator. Parts of Europe and Asia get route 66 and the rest get google maps.

As long as your gps isnt locked this version of google maps will use the gps. Seems some dont understand that the beholds version didnt use GPS and just uses triangulation with cell towers. For our eternity's and impressions, it locks on quicker than amaze or mgmaps.

You will notice the jar for your version is also only around 400k. This version is over 800k. I hope it works out for you and maybe get that info in return.

Yes this version of google maps utilizes street view, however some locations are unavailable using street view.  This is a much better app, rather than going through a browser.  You should be able to click for street view (where available) using this app.

Also, Agoattamer, I'm unsure where to find these files.  I understand that our phones are a bit different but if you could elaborate as to the location, maybe we could help you more.

Sure what I am looking for is in your adminstrative menu. When you enter *#6984125*# and then hit internals then enter your master code *#9072641*#  you have a gps category. Correct? In that there are different things you can change. That cooresponds to the lbsconfig file I posted above. Categories in this menu might be 'service option',  'session type' , and others.

I was asking for each category and the options for each in order. For example:

service options
   1 choice 1
   2 choice  2
   3  choice 3

Operation Mode
   1 choice 1
   2 choice 2
